If you would like to transfer a domain name from one registrar to another, you will have to go through a couple of safety procedures. One of them is obtaining a unique EPP authorization code from the present registrar company – on the condition that you are the registrant, since the code is emailed to the domain owner’s email account and no one else can get it. You’ll have to give this code to the new registrar, or else they won’t be able to initiate the transfer procedure. The EPP codes are case-sensitive and may contain numbers or special characters such as commas or dots, which can be easily miswritten, so make sure you copy & paste the correct code. As an extra protection measure, the transfer code for a domain may be reset on a regular basis. Some registrar companies refer to this code as a domain password, a domain secret or an Auth key as well.
